Extra Duty Events

Extra-Duty Events (EDE) is an advanced event management add-on module with specific event fields.1 EDE offers schedulers a better and more flexible way to deploy Units. Utilizing EDE, staffers can create a single event or a series of events with multiple units and shifts, specify the employing company name, create positions on the fly, attach URL links, add notes only visible to employees working the event, export event deployment data to support invoicing, and more.2

It is very important to understand the basic prerequisites and standard event staffing features before implementing Extra-Duty Events. Knowledge of Unit, {e} Unit, Extra Unit, and Event Type concepts are required before you start using the Extra-Duty Events module.

The standard event staffing functions in this application deploys a single unit at a time on the Roster. The EDE module is an extension of the standard event staffing features used to deploy units on the Roster, but with the added extra duty functions, and a centralize location to store and manage extra duty event activity. As such, the EDE module is primarily an event management system that utilizes existing units and {e} units to deploy events.3

Once these events appear on the Roster they are the same thing, Units or {e} Units.

Extra Duty Events appear on the Roster, Dashboard, and Calendar when published. Events with calendar flags applied display Event Details on the calendar.

Scheduling personnel remains the same on the Roster.4 To schedule Extra Duty Event vacancies, the event must be published. Once published, the event will appear on the Roster, and the same staffing features available can be utilized to staff Extra Duty Events.

The add-on license Extra Duty Events (EDE) is required to access Extra Duty Events in the application.5 In addition to the authority permissions Extra Duty Events: Manage and/or Extra Duty Events: View.
