So the whole purpose of event staffing is to launch an event outside of the regular schedule, and staff it with available employees. How do we do this?
Units, Extra Units and Event Types are methods for defining the end result of the deployed Unit on the Roster. Events are Units. Events can be standalone units, enhanced units, or user-defined when deployed on the Roster.
This is very important information - any Unit in the organizational structure can be deployed on the Roster. How the Unit appears and the extra things employees can see and do that are not part of a regular Unit are added features.

Extra Units also known as Backup Units are physical units; a piece of equipment. Each time these units are deployed the same unit name displays on the Roster. Extra Units require only a name and an abbreviation in Setup, and allow for a ten second recording. Additionally, Extra Units enable the back-up unit check box via Copy Unit.
An Event Type is a template that holds a Unit and further defines what, where and how an Event is deployed on the Roster. Event Types allow the name of the unit to be changed on the fly, and allow vacancy flags to be set.
