Configure a Shift Mask

To add or change the Shift Mask pattern in the Shifts section of the Setup area:

  1. Select an existing shift to edit; or click Add to create a new shift mask.
  2. Name the Shift Mask.
  3. Type the abbreviation for this shift.
  4. Enter the shift mask information that is relevant to your organization. To create a pattern you must start with a blank calendar. Options are:
    • Click Clear Pattern to remove the previous shift pattern.
    • To select consecutive days, hold down the Shift key.
    • To select non-consecutive days hold down the Ctrl key.
  5. On the blank calendar, select every working (on-duty) day or non-working day that conflicts with the shift. Two repeating cycles of the pattern must be entered.
    • To select non-consecutive days, hold the Ctrl key while clicking on the calendar.
    • To select consecutive days, hold the Shift key while clicking on the calendar.
    • To extend the number of weeks in view, use the Weeks (5-53)menu box and scroll forward or backward, if needed.
  6. Click New Pattern to display the new shift pattern.
  7. Click Save.

The Extra Day-On shift mask displays a frame on the calendar. The Extra Day-Off shift mask displays a smaller solid square.

Assign the Shift Mask in the person’s Assignment tab.
Bidding Module Configuration Note
If your auction’s bidding process requires shift masks, you may apply shift masks to Positions before implementing your auction configuration.
