About Job Allocation Passes

Job Allocation Passes are filters to tell the system which types of unallocated people to process and in what order to process them. A job allocation pass is person-centric, whereas Fill by Person, and Fill by Rules are position-centric.

Unallocated people are people that are not allocated to a blueprint position during their assigned shift. People can be partially allocated, or assigned to work overtime on a shift that extends pass their shift assignment. A job allocation pass returns unchecked records, and checked records.

For each person, each pass specifies which jobs (blueprint positions) to evaluate, and the order to evaluate them. Passes are similar to building blocks in that they are independent and reusable within any given Job Allocation Strategy.

This means Pass X, Pass Y, and Pass Z can work together in a staffing strategy in multiple combinations. Passes are generally person-centric, highly configurable, and dependent on your business rules.

For example:

Person-centric pass...

As you can see each Pass contains its own logic, this means multiple Lists can be configured and used to qualify different sets of people, or multiple passes in a single job allocation pass can be added depending on the desired outcome.

Rule of thumb, the job allocation pass is usually the first run or attempt to staff. Any remaining unfilled blueprint positions are then staffed using Fill by Person, or Fill by Rules.
