Add | Defines a new preference set. |
Edit | Used to edit filter options of the selected
preference set. User permission types cannot be modified. For example,
if you need to modify a Reorder permission to a View Only permission preference
you will need to add a new preference. Application Behavior: Prior to application version 7.1.6, altering preference configuration in Setup resulted in the removal of that preference when linked to a person. As of application version 7.1.6, this application now attempts to keep the user’s preference presets when a preference has been modified in Setup Preferences. This means, applicable user preferences will remain when inputs conform with the new configuration in Setup. If a user's preferences, or individual preference sets, or individual preference options cannot be logically modified to conform to the new Setup configuration, they will be removed. Examples: The employee has Preference A in their profile, and prefers to work Shift A, and C, and no rank is selected. Suppose employees are now required to indicate any of these shifts A, B, or C and optionally select a Rank. RESULT: The person keeps their preference settings intact because they conform to the new configuration. Suppose employees are now required to indicate one of these shifts A or B, and optionally select a Rank. RESULT: The employees preference is modified. The application removes shift C because it is invalid, and keeps shift A. Suppose employees are now required to indicate one shift (Limit to one item is turned on). The new limit is Shift A, B, or C and optionally select a Rank. The employee has Preference A in their profile, and prefers to work Shift A, and C, and no rank is selected. The preference is removed because shift A and shift C are both valid and the application does not choose between valid user inputs when one is required. Since no rank is defined and it is optional the entire preference is removed. Suppose employees are now required to select any shift and limited to A,B, or C, and rank is required. Before the change in setup, the employee had a blank shift, and chose Manager as the preferred rank. RESULT: A blank entry is interpreted as ANY is FINE or No preference. Since the employee did not indicate a Shift preference, all shift limits defined in the preference are applied to the user’s preference. The employees preference displays A,B,and C, and Manager as the rank. |
Suppose employees are now required to select any shift. No shift limit is set in setup and rank is required. Before the change in setup, the employee had a blank shift, and chose Manager as the preferred rank. RESULT: Because a blank entry is interpreted as ANY is FINE or No preference. Since the employee did not indicate a Shift preference, and no shift limits were defined in setup preferences, the employee’s entire preference is removed. |
