About Preference Locks

Preference locks are used to prohibit users from modifying their preferences in general or during a job allocation run. Preference locks are configurable in Setup > Preferences > Preference locks.

Preference locks use the person’s active shift assignment to determine whether that person’s preference is locked. System permissions allow administrators to control which, where, and when a preference is locked, in addition to override locks.

For example, suppose a plant has preferences set for two departments, delivery and packaging. Employees work either or both. Delivery locks preferences on weekdays only. Packaging has no lock restriction. Preference locks can be used to lock preferences for Delivery on weekdays and unlock preferences for Packaging. A person who works both locations, would see a lock for weekday delivery preferences and no lock for weekend delivery and no locks for packaging preferences.

System authority permission Preference: Override Locked allows users to bypass a lock on a preference when granted. The permission Setup: Preference Locks allow users to create a lock. To apply a lock to a preference in setup, the permission Setup: Preferences is required.
