Job Transfers and Labor Category Entries of Day can be modified in this application on any of the schedule edit pages such as Edit without Rules, Switch, Off-Roster, Fill By Person, and Add/Edit.1 The Transfers panel allows Schedulers to adjust the paid job from the worked job.

For example, suppose Karen initially accepted a working opportunity for a pastry chef position at some point in time, come day of the schedule changed and instead of working the pastry chef position Karen worked the bread chef position which also pays more. Using the Transfers panel the scheduler can assign the person the bread baker position and adjust the labor category to pay the employee as a pastry chef or any other applicable labor category.

About Labor Categories (Dimensions)

Labor categories are used to collect additional data that is not part of the hierarchical structure of the organization (the business structure) in Dimensions. Typically, this is what the employee can work on. For example, a labor category could be a project, contract, or shift.

Labor Category Entries are assigned to a labor category. A Labor Category List is a collection of labor category entries per category. Labor category entry lists can be assigned to locations on the business structure in Dimensions. As of application version 7.2.2, a default labor category and labor category entry can be configured on the Shift in Setup. Doing so will allow this application to set the labor category and the labor category entry on the Transfers section of the employee’s staffing record in this application.

Labor categories and entries assigned to the employee and the assigned job must match the default set on the Shift in order for this application to set labor category defaults in the Transfer section of this application. If the labor category set on the employee’s profile and the assigned job do not match the default labor category set on the shift then this application does not set the labor category for the employee in the Transfer section. However, authorized personnel can change labor category entries in the Transfer section of this application including blank values with any of the available labor category sets defined for the employee and the assigned job for the day.

1 Available as of application version 7.1.6.
