Configure a Group

Review Group concepts and reference topics.

To edit or create a Group in the General section of the Setup area:

  1. Click a Group to edit, or click Add to create a new one.
  2. Name the Group. When possible, keep naming conventions short due to limited space on the Roster and drop-down menu boxes.
  3. Check the optional settings desired.
  4. Click Save.

Configure a Group Icon

Group icons show next to the position when that Group is applied at the position level. To configure a Group with an Icon:

  1. Go to Setup > General > Group
  2. Select a group and click Edit; or click Add to create a group.
  3. Type a name for this group inName.
  4. Select the desired icon in Group Icons.
  5. Check the optional settings desired.
  6. Click Save.

Apply a Group Icon to a Positon

To apply a Group Icon to a position in the Oragnization area in Setup:

  1. Open the position in the Organization structure.
    • To select one position in a Unit, select the position.
    • To select all of the positions in a Unit, select the top position, hold the Shift key and select the bottom position.
    • To select some positions in a Unit, hold the CTRL key and select the desired positions.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Select the desired Group.
  4. Click Save.

The Group icon shows next to the position name on the Roster when that position is active.

Create a Blank Icon to Align Positions on the Roster

When an icon is applied to one or some positions on the Roster, a position that does not have a Group Icon in the same unit will appear out of alignment. Follow the optional steps below to create a blank Group icon to align all of the positions in a Unit.

  1. Go to Setup > General > Group.
  2. Select an existing Group to edit or click Add to create a new Group.
  3. Type a name for this group in Name.
  4. Select Blank in Group Icons.
  5. Check the optional settings desired.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Locate the positions in the organizational structure. See Apply Group Icon to a Position topic if additional information is needed.
  8. Select the position, and click Edit.
  9. Select the blank icon in Group Icons.
  10. Click Save.

The positions with the blank group icon are now aligned with the positions that show a group icon.
