About Groups

Groups are used to identify a set of people that should be included or excluded from working opportunities, or to simplify staffer day-to-day tasks via the People Filter, or use group icons to easily target certain positions on the Roster. Group icons are available as of application version 6.7.

Groups are typically people with some type of scheduling attribute or skill that may be required for scheduling purposes.

For example, Spanish speaking, Italian speaking, Hostage Negotiator, SWAT, Special Response Team, Part-Time, Photographer, Don’t Call for Overtime, and so on.

The application can exclude or include these attributes when evaluating personnel for working opportunities. Groups are also used to trigger roster count alarms to prevent personnel shortages.

Groups are included in the People Filter, where staffers can run queries and search for people in specific groups to schedule, send general messages, print the query, and more. Groups are assigned to positions in setup organizations, if the group associated with the position has an icon set then that icon displays on the Roster for that position.
