Work Code: Edit Vs. Edit Without Rules...

Security permission settings control whether a person can edit a work code, and to what extent a person can edit a work code. Work code editing rights include Edit, and Edit Without Rules...

Edit permission grants users the ability to modify basic work code fields with applicable Dynamic Issues, and Static Issues enabled.

Edit Without Rules... permission grants users the ability to modify advanced work code fields which includes configuration presets, and disables applicable dynamic and static issues.

Edit runs dynamic, and static issues associated with a work code. A user with edit only rights can see whether editing the selected work code violates a business rule, or policy. If the request is in violation of an issue, then depending on the strength of the user’s system security level, the issue displayed will either...

Edit Without Rules... suppresses dynamic and static issues. Issues in violation of a business rule will not enable and alert the user, or stop the user from editing that work code. Advanced editing capabilities are also granted. A user can override, and change the default configuration behavior and presets for the selected work code record.

Work code behaviors vary by work code and are highly configurable in Setup. For this reason, you may find that some work codes can be edited, and other work codes can not, and sometimes work codes you can edit on certain days, you can’t edit on other days.
